Earlier this month, Berlin D. Pineda, of West Hartford’s Caribe Restaurant on Park Street, filed an application for a restaurant liquor permit at 345 Prospect Ave. in West Hartford. The application filed with the Department of Consumer Protection notes that acoustic bands will perform there.

The restaurant space on the Hartford/West Hartford border was home to Prospect, a “scratch” kitchen and gastropub that closed in September due to the economic impact of COVID-19. Before it was Prospect, the Faenza family ran a restaurant there for nearly 50 years, according to the Hartford Courant.

The new restaurant planned for 345 Prospect Ave. will be owned by Caribe Restaurant West Hartford. The limited liability corporation’s principal owner is Milagros Pineda, mother of Berlin Pineda and owner of Caribe Restaurant.

The Prospect Avenue restaurant will focus on Spanish cuisine with mofongo being a specialty, according to We-Ha.com. Caribe on Park has an emphasis on takeout and delivery.

Any objections to the liquor permit must file them by Jan. 19, 2021.
